“Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional” ~Roger Crawford

At this moment in time we are facing a challenge greater than we have ever seen for three generations. In the span of one month this pandemic has made us become aware of our common fate and values not only in our home but in our communities and to our neighbours about the world.

We see the plights and heroic efforts of countless health care workers on the front lines of this epidemic. Whether the media and news reports originate in the North America, Iran, UK, or elsewhere I see the faces of those who have sacrificed their lives. To all the selfless health care workers worldwide we owe you our thanks and our lives.

No doubt you’ve seen the viral videos of Corona virus doctors and nurses in Iran dancing to boost their morale, to deny defeat, to conquer fear. Whenever we look deep inside our dance we come to realize as human beings how we are all connected. Dance creates peace, love, harmony, and understanding among all people. Dance is our universal language. Dance can be our cure.

All my workshops and performances scheduled and outstanding of last month and before have been postponed or cancelled. I’m taking this opportunity to explore new technologies to come together when we are physically apart. I am now able to bring my dance training and lectures into your home by weekly video conferencing or recorded video. Now online, please check for my offerings below. I miss seeing all my students in the studio or outside at retreat locations worldwide. I look forward to updating you when we can dance together again on one floor.

Last but not least, I want to thank the remarkable people who have stepped up to make donations and help support artists and organizations struggling to adjust to new realities and facing hardships. If you would like to help support the Simorgh Dance Collective and my work please make a donation online at http://donate.farimadance.com or contact me to share other ways you may contribute.

Wishing you joy, health, and safety!
Farima

Stop the words now.
Open the window in the center of your chest
And let the spirits fly in and out.
