October 2020

Dear Friends,

In the Book of Avesta (the Zoroastrian holy book), legend claims that the Vahishtas, the immortal angels of good, created the cosmos. Each Vahishta personified the highest virtue: Devotion, Truth/Righteousness, Wholeness, Good Purpose, and Protection of Humanity. When humanity calls for help during dire times, the Vahishtas may unify their power and enter the soul of humans and empower them to fight evil.

It is stated that a time will come that Ahriman (The Dark Lord) will rise to power and a battle between Good and Evil will begin. War, destruction, disease, hatred, and drought will cover the earth. Upon the advent of our difficult times today, the time has come again to summon the Vahishtas!

Vahishta: The Calling of the Angels is a multinational performance of traditional dance and music, acting, song, poetry, and art from artists within and representing the countries of Iran, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, England, Italy, and the United States. It is a performance summoning hope and renewal in this time of crisis in the form of traditional dance and music, acting, song, poetry, and art. Each performer possesses a talent that will embody the pure essence of their Angel/Vahishta. A combination of live and recorded performance, Vahishta will be presented online November 7 for a truly international viewing. Look for more details below and a chance to buy tickets for this inspiring online event featuring the Simorgh Dance Collective, other talented artists, and I. Look for more details coming.

Fall and the changing of the seasons has arrived. October also marks a month of new opportunity and offerings. This month I am excited to announce my weekly classes will include new themes and specializations of sacred and Persian dance. First, Shamseh will explore dances, whirling, and healing movements inspired by ancient Iranian rituals of the four Royal Stars of Persia. Second, in Geometric Aesthetics of Persian Dance learn and identify Persian dance by means of its infusion of iconic movements, sacred geometry, life events, and culture. Newcomers always welcome.

Sunday October 4, I will be performing in no less than three festivals celebrating international arts or Mehregan, the Persian festival of autumn. Broadcasts will originate from California and Texas, portions recorded. This is an epic milestone to appear in three different festivals and fundraisers in one day internationally.

All my events and classes listed below are online so there is no reason why you cannot watch or participate from your home.

Finally, I have just launched my Simorgh Dance Collective Patreon page. Come visit and for your monthly support subscription receive special event previews and behind-the-scenes peeks, educational materials, lectures, and mini-tutorial videos.

Wishing you joy, health, and safety!
