Dear Friends,
What a beautiful sacred dance workshop we enjoyed last month in New York City! We laughed, we prayed, we screamed, we hugged and cried… above all that, we continued to dance. The Spirals of Ecstasy show that followed was amazing! Thank you friends for your hard work, sweat and open hearts. What a beautiful weekend we spent together…Hearts and minds were expanded. The following week circumstances led me to Instanbul for a beautiful Sema gathering with many wonderful memories and new friends.
It is a rare gift to find such hard working, humble, and committed artists to share my love and this precious path with. Art is a chance to strive for our highest potential in this lifetime… On every level… And this I have seen in the artists, patrons, and participants of my recent travels. God really works in mysterious ways! I love you and thank you.
Finally, thank you all so much for your beautiful birthday greetings last month! I feel so blessed.
During a remarkable research sabbatical and respite in Iran last month I was blessed to visit many khanqahs, to meet many devishes of Iran and Iraq (some of whom came a long distance to greet me), to visit sacred sites of Yarasan, and to whirl in Sema. I developed many lovely friendships among those who have become my greater Sufi family abroad since my return.
Our second annual Yalda (Persian Winter Solstice) online celebration features traditional Persian dance, live music, workshops, poetry and stories shared, quizzes, holiday recipes, and more. Presented online December 21 starting at 7:30pm Pacific, we hope you will bring us into your home and participate. Also, Sunday December 12 join us to enjoy Shab-i Arus and remember the mystical poet Rumi with sacred dance, music, and poetry online. Look for details in our event calendar below.
My long-awaited Beginning Persian Mystical Dance and Sufi Whirling dance class resumes this December, online and in person. The advanced sacred and Persian dance classes will begin in January. Master Seyed Salman Hosseini and I host Yarsan Sufi Music Theory a study of Yarsan and Iranian Sufi music and history this month. My Sunday Sacred Circle gathering for meditation, live music, Sufi lecture and discussion, and healing continues Sundays through December. See below for details.
