March 2020

Tarsa, the Simorgh Dance Collective’s first dance drama in collaboration with actors and directors Ali Aminipour and Sadegh Hatefi and music by Homera Banejad and Ensemble, was a success this last February 22! A great thank you to all the dancers, musicians, actors, stage personnel, and volunteers who made it all happen and to you the audience who attended.

March is the month of new beginnings as we welcome Spring and Norouz, the Persian New Year. Consider making your own new beginnings this year, new experiences, new challenges, and new friends in the realm of dance, culture, and spirituality. Attend my Persian and Silk Road dance class in San Jose Thursdays to learn enchanting Persian and Central Asian dance movements and choreography. Learn and practice with me the sacred, meditative dance of whirling in my upcoming workshops in Sacramento, Saratoga, and Mountain View. Listen to a fun, informative lecture about Norouz this Sunday in San Jose. Details for all this and other new experiences appear below. Where ever you are I hope to dance with you soon.

This summer, May 24 – June 5, join me to learn the Sufi mystical ancient wisdom, dances, whirling and healing ritual practices on site in Iran and Turkey with Caravan of Mystics. This special retreat and tour spanning locations in Iran and Turkey will include Yarsan and Khorasan Sufi Order and masters Seyed Salman Hosseni, Mehrdad Maleki, Seyed Vessal Hosseni. Registration deadlines for these retreats and tours are approaching soon. Look below for their offerings and details.

Wishing you all a healthy, happy Spring and Norouz!
