August 2021

Dear Friends,

We all love dance–it connects us and brings joy and healing. This month I introduce some amazing new online workshops and special class topics so you can experience dance and Persian culture in new ways.

My online classes continue to attract students world over. First, my beginning Persian sacred dance and whirling class advances from simple technique to study sacred dance and whirling to the Persian sacred elements. Those attending my advanced Persian sacred dance and whirling class will receive training to venture deeper into the spirals of nature (turns, circles and spirals).

Learn the elegant dance styling of the 19th century Persian elite and royal courts in my Dances of the Qajar Dynasty starting this month. You will learn the art of graceful hand movements, flowing upper torso, delicate hip movements, and expressive eyes and facial expressions from an age when refined, luxurious, and feminine aesthetic qualities were celebrated.

Sufi music master Seyed Salman Hosseini joins me weekly, for an hour of online lectures and analysis of the seven Sufi sacred maqams and mysticism. Sundays, he joins me with students around the world for Sacred Circle, an hour of ancient mystical and Sufi healing meditation, including special guest scholars and lecture in Sufi practices.

Coming this Fall are plans for a sacred dance retreat in Finland and Italy. Look for more details soon.

In spite of the pandemic doldrums, it’s time to stop being a spectator and dance. One need not leave your home or practice unsafe behavior. If you are fully vaccinated, you may also join me in the studio with a face mask. Look to the event listings below for more details upon upcoming dance classes, lectures, and workshops.

Wishing you safety, love, and health,
Farima
