January 2020

The New Year is upon us. Let’s look back to pause and think of what and who has inspired us, the journeys we’ve taken, the people we’ve met and loved ones we have lost. Let us thank all of them. For each person and each moment has helped us to be the person who we are today.

Attar of Nishapur wrote the 12th century epic poem Conference of the Birds, a magnificent allegorical tale of the world’s birds who gather and take a perilous journey in search of the mysterious Simorgh. The Journey of the Simorgh is a retelling of this epic in dance and music, but for each bird of the story a different Silk Road culture or style is represented–whether that be Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, or sacred, traditional, and classical Persian dance. It features live music performed by Homeyra Banejad and Ensemble, dances by the Simorgh Dance Collective, and expertly is narrated by award winning actor and director Sadegh Hatefi. Tickets for the single January 11, 2020 performance are selling fast and seating is limited. Purchase tickets now at http://journeyofthesimorgh.bpt.me and look for details below.

Next, on February 22 in San Jose, I am excited to announce Tarsa, a dance drama featuring Sadegh Hatefi, Ali Aminipour, Farhang Heydari, the Simorgh Dance Collective, and myself. This is an epic tale befitting Romeo and Juliet, a tale of love between a Sufi Shaikh to a Christian maiden, a simple love that grows despite the divisions of their beliefs. Look for more details below.

A special dual concert ticket offer for both Journey of the Simorgh (Jan. 11) and Tarsa (Feb. 22) shows is available now at $50–a savings of $10 from buying the tickets separately. Hurry, this offer ends on January 8! Look for the “Dual concert purchase offer” online at the Journey of the Simorgh ticket sales page.

Thank you all for your unconditional love and support! Thank you to the amazing artists, students, followers, all those who have taken the time to share their love, teachings, comments and inspirations. I am both humbled and blessed by your support. I am looking forward to another year of love, adventure, healing, teaching, dancing, and meeting new souls! Love and Light to you and Happy New Year!!

Blessings,
Farima
