Dear Friends,
March brings us the first day of spring with the vernal equinox, and is the traditional start of new beginnings. The first day of Spring also marks Norouz, the Persian New Year, and a time of renewal rituals, dancing, celebration, and remembrance. I invite you to make your own beginning with new experiences, new challenges, and new friends in the realm of dance, culture, and spirituality. Coming up this month and April is your opportunity to experience exciting dance presentations and classes.
The Simorgh Dance Collective appears on stage for the Spring Celebration of Life March 20 at the Montalvo Carriage House theater in Saratoga, CA in two daytime performances of traditional music, poetry, and dance curated by Mosaic America. Educate and enjoy yourself as the Simorgh Dance Collective and many local artists share their world traditions of spring. Dr. Farima and her Collective will also be appearing at two Norouz Bazaars offering Persian crafts and arts at Campbell and San Ramon this month. Look for details below.
You need not be in the Bay Area to experience Persian traditional dances, poetry, music, and stories of spring. Register for the Norouz Online Celebration March 15 and enjoy an hour presentation with Dr. Farima Berenji and the Simorgh Dance Collective online within your own home. Register for the event at http://norouz.farimadance.com.
Look for an announcement soon of the pre-release of my book Companions of the Sun coming this month or April. My work presents several years of research into the sacred origins, history, and customs of Persian dance. Within its pages, uncover the mystic traditions and history guiding seekers toward ecstasy and divine connection through sacred dance and the meditative art of whirling.
In April, my long-awaited online classes in Persian dance will be resuming. Be sure to visit http://classes.farimadance.com for emerging details and schedule.
“Spring and all its flowers now joyously break their vow of silence.
It is time for celebration, not for lying low;
You too; weed out those roots of sadness from your heart.”
