Dear Friends,
Marcel Proust wrote “Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” Indeed, November is the month of thanksgiving when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. We should all take time this month to give thanks to our family, community, and to nature for the energy and love they bring us. This last month was exceptional for sharing performances by the Simorgh Dance Collective such as the San Jose SpARC Festival and the Roya Foundation Mehregan Festival. I wish to thank the hosts, sponsors, and audience who set the stage for us to shine for these events and all events so far this year. I am most grateful to my students and supporters who help me share the love of Persian and Silk Road culture among many.
My highly-anticipated book Companions of the Sun launched last month and it continues to gather a following. Look for author lectures and performances in your area. Companions of the Sun explores the origins and practice of Iranian dance in hand with spirituality. It reveals Iranian rituals and beliefs in relation to dance, as well as how Iranian culture has impacted global music and dance traditions. Look for upcoming author events below.
This coming December I will be appearing for book lectures, sacred dance workshops, and sema gatherings in multiple locations: San Jose, Los Angeles, and Monterey. All the more to meet and share dance, culture, and healing among you.
Wishing to see you soon in dance where ever you are,
Farima
