June 2026

Dear Friends,

It was a joy to dance with friends once more during the Companions of the Sun: Dancing toward the Light performance in Salt Lake City last week. I thank all who came and participated in the concert as well as those who attended my book talk earlier. My book talks have been lively and full of interesting questions by each audience this month. I am particularly grateful for the audience and atmosphere during my book lecture hosted by Lajevard Cafe in San Jose. I will be returning for another book lecture there June 14 at a new time in the afternoon.

Performances and lectures are heating up just as summer is. The Mosaic Festival returns to San Jose History Park June 6 and my Simorgh Dance Collective is on stage performing dances of Persia and the Silk Road. Also, for July the San Francisco Public Library is celebrating the culture of Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) and I will offering a short book lecture and participatory dances at most of its branches.

In ancient Iran, much of Iranian mythology is based on the idea of a good or positive force battling an evil force for control of humankind. Join me online for stories and discussion of the fabled witches and demons in Persian folklore Sunday June 21. Be sure to register early.

Hoping to see you soon in dance,
Farima
