“Everything in dance is poetry. Every movement describes a story, a feeling. The dancer takes the audience into a world of fairy tales.” ~Farima Berenji
The Farima Dance Company performs Bandari, a dance style from the Iranian Persian Gulf, at 1:28pm. Centuries-old trade between Africa and Persia introduced a blend of high-energy folk dance and music known as Bandari. Bandari combines African, Arab, and Persian movements such as hand and shoulder shimmies, hip thrusts, and head tosses, earning it the name “Persian bellydance.”
The 1-4pm program also includes these dancers and dance troupes: Hazar, House of Inanna, Jahmra El-Mejdel, Jewel of Opar, Jill, Karavansaray Dance Company, Lizzy, Mirit, Rosa Gitana, Sabiba, Sidahlia, Swirl featuring Davina & Zemira, Tatiana, Sadira, Shazara, and Adriana.
