Dear Friends,
March brings us the first day of spring with the vernal equinox, a traditional start of new beginnings. The first day of Spring also marks Norouz, the Persian New Year, and a time of renewal rituals, dancing, celebration, and remembrance. I invite you to make your own beginning with new experiences, new challenges, and new friends in the realm of dance, culture, and spirituality.
I wish to thank the Roya Foundation for the opportunity to perform several Persian and Silk Road cultural dances at their Nowruz Bazaar and fundraiser last month in San Ramon. Within a few weeks the Simorgh Dance Collective also performed for Nowruz festivals in San Jose, Campbell, and Benica to appreciative audiences. Late in March, Simorgh Dance Collective dancers and I participated in a Sema and Sufi Sacred Gathering at the University of Pennsylvania with a night of Sufi whirling and poetry. I wish to thank the University for sponsoring such an amazing night.
This week, Eastern Arts, the Simorgh Dance Collective, World Dance Company, and others perform in Salt Lake City for Spring Around the World. This free performance is a cultural celebration of music and dance from Iran, Armenia, Turkey, and other cultures of the Silk Road. Look for details below.
Wishing to see you soon in dance where ever you are,
Farima
The garden of love is green without limit and yields many fruits other than sorrow or joy. Love is beyond either condition: without spring, without autumn, it is always fresh.
