DESCRIPTION:The Farima Dance Company performs Bandari\, a dance style from the Iranian Persian Gulf\, at 1:50pm. Centuries-old trade between Africa and Persia introduced a blend of high-energy folk dance and music known as Bandari. Bandari combines African\, Arab\, and Persian movements such as hand and shoulder shimmies\, hip thrusts\, and head tosses\, earning it the name “Persian bellydance.” \nThe Bay Area Belly Dance And Music Association (BABDAMA) Fabulous Fall Festival features a fabulous line-up of featured dancer performances including live music by Pangia. Vendors will be selling middle eastern dance apparel\, props\, and accessories all day long. Profits of the festival helps benefit the non-profit Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. DESCRIPTION:Persian Sacred and Traditional Dance Intensive Weekend  \nThree day weekend intensive on Persian and traditional dance including dance performances\, Sema gathering\, workshops\, and sacred circle gathering guided by Farima Berenji. \nSimorgh Collective\nThere is an extra practice for Farima’s Comox Valley Dance Collective members on Thursday Nov. 12th\, 7:30-9PM which is included for those registered. \nFriday Evening\, November 13\nDance Performances and Sema Gathering\nDoors open at 7:30PM\, 8PM dance performances\, 9PM Sema Gathering aka Sufi Whirling\nIncluded for those registered for the full weekend intensive\, otherwise by donation at the door \nSaturday Afternoon\, November 14th\nPersian Classical Dance Workshop\n10:30AM-4:30PM (Q&A potluck lunch 1-2PM).\nHistory\, mythology\, dance technique\, and choreography “The Hunt”. \nSaturday Evening\, November 14th\nSacred Circle and Healing Zikr\n7:30PM-9:30PM\nIncluded for those registered for the full weekend intensive\, otherwise by donation at the door. \nSunday Afternoon\, November 15th\nFolk Dances of Baluchestan\n10:30AM-4:30PM (Q&A potluck lunch 1-2PM)\nBaluchi dance is very rich and music is played with varieties of traditional instruments. Located in the South of Iran bordering Afghanistan\, Balouchi dance has a blend of dance movement of Afghani\, Indian\, and Iranian dance moments. Due to their strong cultural values\, the Baluchi people have been able to keep their rich traditional heritage alive. \nTwo famous dances of Balouchestan will be taught: \n\nDo-Chapi (also known as the bracelet dance)\, which is an ancient Persian dance mostly performed by forming a circle by a group of people\, dancing\, and clapping.\nLewa: Lewa is also a Baluchi dance of Sheedi origin\, performed mostly by a group of people in a circle with hand movements.\n\n  \nRegistration\nIt is highly recommended to attend the full weekend intensive if possible! \nThe full weekend intensive takes place at the Abbey Studio at 1st & Penrith Ave. in Cumberland and includes; Friday evening performances and Sema Gathering\, Saturday and Sunday dance workshops (both days 10:30AM-4:30 PM and the Saturday evening Sacred Circle and Zikr). \n$150 early bird price before Oct. 10th ($175 after Oct. 10th) Saturday or Sunday workshop\, one day only $90 if space allows.
