March is the month of new beginnings as we welcome Spring and Norouz, the Persian New Year. Consider making your own new beginnings this year, new experiences, new challenges, and new friends in the realm of dance, culture, and spirituality. To help celebrate the coming of Spring, the Simorgh Dance Collective, Eastern Arts, and other fine artists have pooled their talents together to share with you an online celebration of traditional Silk Road dance, music, poetry, and art this month. My continuing students have asked that I help review Persian classical or sacred dance technique and styles this month. If you have been introduced to Persian or sacred dance and whirling before and would like to review basic skills and styles then this is the month to start taking my classes. You have the opportunity to learn and perform a new choreography as well.
My Sacred Circle breathing, meditation, and lecture gatherings also continue. Meditation and fundamental Sufism concepts and lessons will be featured and introduced for both Thursday and Sunday morning sessions with a guest facilitator this month. Many people visit both sessions each week to find calming peace of mind and spirit as well as fellowship among the regulars who join worldwide.
Sufi music master Seyed Salman Hosseini joins me for a second month each week for an hour of online lectures and analysis of the seven Sufi sacred maqams and its association with Iranian sacred movements and healing. Seyed Salman Hosseini is also available for private lessons in the traditional setar, tar, and tanbur instruments.
