July 2020

Dear Friends,

Although the world is in turmoil and so much we have been used to has changed–our work, our travel, our opportunity to share the same space for sport, performing arts, or social time–still I find much to be grateful for. I am grateful for the heroes in our hospitals that help save lives. I am grateful for those who love and support me. Also if it were not for this pandemic I would not have found the many amazing people who choose to participate in my online classes and lectures. In our own spot about the world we each found a way to cure a longing we had to learn and share a lovely skill, and we made this connection without leaving our home.

Is it any wonder that experts have found that when we take a moment each day to be grateful it helps our well-being? Take time now to assess what and who you may be grateful for and find happiness for it.

This month, my online classes continue in Persian and sacred dance, and my beginning Persian and Silk Road dance class returns Thursdays in July from hiatus, online to your home. Saturdays, join me to learn Azeri traditional dance technique and choreography. Learn the art and experience of whirling in one or two workshops this month on July 8 and 27 or join my online class on Tuesdays. Or join me for a sacred dance and poetry gathering on July 19 with sacred music played live.

This month I introduce a seven week workshop on classical Persian dance: Haft Dastgah, Haft Gham. With online lectures of music and dance learn the character and history of the seven classical Persian dastgahs.

Discover more of my online offerings and gatherings this summer among the listings and links below. This summer join me and make a journey to learn new secrets and skills of an ancient culture without leaving your home.

Wishing you joy, health, and safety!

Oh Beloved,
take me.
Liberate my soul.
Fill me with your love and
release me from the two worlds.
If I set my heart on anything but you
let fire burn me from inside.

Oh Beloved,
take away what I want.
Take away what I do.
Take away what I need.
Take away everything
that takes me from you.
