Happy New Year! 2018 was my year for so many beautiful new experiences, honors, and greetings. It was a year I taught and performed to many in India yet found many new friends for events near home. It was a year I was honored to present a TEDx lecture on sacred dance in Calgary, Alberta. It was a year my Simorgh Dance Collective performed more venues and collaborated with more artists than ever before. Thank you to all who participated in workshops and enjoyed my performances worldwide this last year, a year of both marvellous joy and challenges. My sincere gratitude to my worldwide hosts, students, associates, and guests.
I am already making great plans for the coming year that you can participate in. Starting in January join me for a monthly series of workshops in Central Asian dance with master instructors Nancy Rose Aktas and Dr. Gurbuz Aktas. My Bay Area classes in sacred and Silk Road dance also resume next week. Look below for more details. Both men and women are welcome! If you would like to learn and perform these dances make plans to join me now.
If you have children ages 5-10 and are interested in enrolling them in a kid’s Persian and Silk Road dance class contact me this week. I will start weekly kids’ classes once I have a minimum of 4 enrollments.
Learn to channel your passion in dance and how to use your body as if you are another being or element in my Embodiment workshop in San Jose, January 12. Also in San Jose introduce yourself to Dance of the Soul, a once monthly Sufi whirling workshop and gathering or Sacred Circle, an evening of ancient mystical healing rituals.
Look below for details and make plans to join me in upcoming dance retreats and tours in beautiful Mt. Shasta, Greece and Turkey, and Iran this summer.
Finally, if you share our love of vision and its aesthetic beauty through dance, we ask your support to the ongoing work of the Simorgh Dance Collective. Make a donation to help defray our costs for research, costuming, travel, scholarship and public presentations. Take pride in supporting diverse cultural community events and have your name or company mentioned as a program donor. We are grateful for your support.
