SUMMARY:Sufi Flamenco Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Explore Sufi Flamenco fusion as a stunning journey from Southern Spain to Persia and Turkey. Learn the history and the beautiful movements of Flamenco\, combined with Sufi Whirling traditions of Iran and Turkey in this workshop lead by Master Whirler and Dance Ethnologist Farima Berenji. \nThere is a historic\, lively cross-cultural exchange between the cultures surrounding the Mediterranean sea since the 11th century. In both Spanish and Persian traditions\, rhythms and dance are a source of releasing energy and becoming one with the divine. SUMMARY:Ancient Persian Sacred Dance
DESCRIPTION:A Brief Lecture Upon Ancient Indo-Iranian Sacred Dances\n\nFrom the beginning of time\, sacred movements and music have brought people together and healed the soul. In ancient Persia\, there were seven sacred animals\, birds\, and flowers believed to have carried the spirit of the Gods. Numerous archeological antiquities and temples have been found that show the connection between animals and dance. These animals were a symbol of the power of life and represented as a spiritual instrument and these seven sacred birds each represented a certain Persian God or Goddess. These rituals and movements are considered the earliest known form of Persian dance and the origin of sacred dance. The origins of Iranian Shamanic rituals\, sacred circles\, and the mysteries of Sema will also be discussed.

SUMMARY:Seven Cities of Love
DESCRIPTION:Seven Cities of Love – A Journey to Simorgh – Lecture\, Concert\, Workshop \nThe Seven Cities of Love Concert is a dramatic music and dance performance led by three of the most distinguished artists from the Persian and Turkish cultures: Davod Azad\, Farima Berenji\, and Latif Bolat. Together with their colleagues they bring together soul-stirring mystical melodies\, and exquisite sacred dances of ancient worlds to illustrate mystical poetry in a tapestry of sound and colour\, gesture and motion\, word and breath\, to touch hearts and to open a window to pure transcendent beauty. \nThe performance draws inspiration from a masterpiece of classical Persian poetry\, Conference of the Birds\, by twelfth century Sufi poet Attar of Nishabur. Attar’s mystical allegory\, considered the jewel in the crown of Sufi tales\, speaks of the journey of the birds through the Seven Cities of Love to meet the king of birds\, the glorious Simorgh. This is an exposition of the humanity’s spiritual quest\, where all the souls of the world fly through seven spiritual states to seek their divine origin. \nFrom yearning and lamentation of the first city\, to passionate love of the second city\, to pure ecstasy in the seventh city\, the performance accompanies the audience in an exploration of the states of consciousness represented by this most profound tale. \nTickets: Standard £25\, concessions £20 \nIf you wish to book your places for the concert and the workshop please visit http://www.uniquecircle.co.uk.
